CCR spinoff group Creedence Clearwater Revisited to retire from the road at the end of 2019

Creedence Clearwater Revisited, the spinoff group led by founding Creedence Clearwater Revival bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug "Cosmo" Clifford, won't be a travelin' band for much longer. Cook and Clifford have announced that CC Revisited will retire from the road after completing a 2019 farewell trek dubbed "The Final Revival Tour."

"We have had so much fun with Creedence Clearwater Revisited," Stu and Doug say in a joint statement. "This decision is very difficult and bittersweet. It's actually hard to imagine not touring. It's not like we're going to be disbanding, but we are definitely going to be relaxing."

Cook explains to Billboard, "We're gonna miss [touring], but there's still time to do other things in life. We all have bigger families, grandkids…We're not retiring, but the idea right now is to put the band to bed and see what else comes along and how we feel about it moving forward."

CC Revisited formed 25 years ago at a time when Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman John Fogerty was refusing to play music by his old band. The spinoff group has had several members come and go over the years, including former Cars guitarist Elliot Easton, but Cook and Clifford have remained constant.

CC Revisited has released one album, 1998's Recollection, which features live version of Creedence classics. It was certified platinum for U.S. sales of mover 1 million in 2007.

As for Cook and Clifford's notoriously acrimonious relationship with Fogerty, Stu tells Billboard, "We're not sniping at each other anymore…We're focused on the good things about Creedence, which is where I think we should be."
